Rabbi Daniel Sturgess was born and raised in Essex, and graduated with a BSc in Mathematics and European Study (Spanish) from University of Exeter. Following graduation he spent more than six years studying in the Aish HaTorah and Mir yeshivot in Israel, receiving his Semicha and graduating from the Ner LeElef Outreach Training Programme. For the past four years he has been the Rabbi and Director for Aish in Birmingham; running educational and social programmes and providing pastoral care for the Jewish students at the Birmingham universities. He has created and delivered Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur explanatory services for the United Synagogue over the past 10 years and recently organised a highly successful Birmingham Community Poland Trip. Other employment history includes work as an actuary for the Prudential and as an analyst for IDT Europe.
REBBETZIN ALLI STURGESS
Alli Sturgess holds a BSc in Psychology from University of Wales, Swansea and has studied and taught in various seminaries in Israel. She is a trained Life Coach and has taught ‘Leadership Training and Life Skills’ in Israel. Her work has included being a Housing Officer for the homeless in Cardiff and East London whilst qualifying in drugs awareness and counselling. She has been Event and Education Coordinator for Aish UK and worked in Jewish film marketing in Israel. She is also a qualified graphic designer and has her own business designing and making bespoke mezuzah cases. For the past four years she has been running the Aish branch in Birmingham together with Rabbi Daniel, teaching, counselling and providing Shabbat and Yom Tov hospitality for Jewish students. She established a popular course for women called Taste of Torah, involving cooking and learning.
